Math 415: Applied Linear Algebra

This course is currently shut down; see a message from the NetMath Director here. The UIUC Mathematics Department has replaced this course with Math 257, which will be offered by NetMath in the Summer 8-week session. We are working on tools to offer the course more broadly in the self-paced format. 


Overview

Introductory course emphasizing techniques of linear algebra with applications to engineering; topics include matrix operations, determinants, linear equations, vector spaces, linear transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, inner products and norms, orthogonality, equilibrium, and linear dynamical systems.

Students with a Bachelor's degree will be assessed graduate level tuition rate for this course. However, one cannot receive graduate level credit for courses numbered below 400 at the University of Illinois.


Testing

Exams: This course has two 90-minute midterm tests and a 3-hour final exam.

Proctorship Information: Exams in this course may be taken online.

Please Note: Students currently registered in a University of Illinois Graduate Degree program will be restricted from registering in 16-week Academic Year-term NetMath courses. Matriculating UIUC Grad students will be allowed to register in Summer Session II NetMath courses.
