CAS-ILE Overview

CAS-ILE System

Many of our courses require an account in the CAS-ILE system. The cost is $99 to purchase an individual account; there is no separate textbook required for these courses.

Please Note: Students are given a 2-week trial period from the date of first access to try out the CAS-ILE system. At the end of this period students must pay the $99 charge before they can continue in the course. No refunds will be issued on the CAS-ILE access fee.

For students taking a NetMath course through the NetMath Partner High School Program, the cost of CAS-ILE accounts is included in the PHS tuition. These students will have CAS-ILE accounts created once we receive a class roster from the high school.

The CAS-ILE system fully integrates three things:

  1. Courseware designed to help students learn by dynamic exploration and visualization.
  2. A web-based interface to the computer algebra system Mathematica for students to perform calculations and write full explanations of their solution process.
  3. A Learning Management System to streamline administration of the course and promote communication between students, instructors, and mentors.

Note: You will receive information about how to sign up for a CAS-ILE account after you enroll in the course. We recommend not creating a CAS-ILE account until you receive this information.

Because CAS-ILE is a web based service, students will need to be able to work with a consistent internet connection. In addition, CAS-ILE is currently best supported on either Chrome or Firefox web browsers, so students must download and install the latest version of Chrome or Firefox.
