"I would just like to thank everyone at NetMath for the wonderful experience that I had back in 2018-2019. I recall Professor Joe Miles' courses in both real and
complex analysis and how, among all the undergraduate and now graduate classes I've taken, they were some of the best lectures I've listened to. This is a testament to the quality of instruction as well as the quality of the NetMath platform. I would also like to thank all of my mentors who were wonderful as well and greatly enhanced my experience." ~ Hashim"I liked the course's logical integration of Mathematica instead of standard math tutoring practices. The assignments were both informative and humorous. The turnaround time on my doubts was minimal removing the barriers that usually exist with online learning." ~ Anonymous
"I had a very good learning experience in NetMath. The teaching materials and assignments are very helpful with my solid understanding of the knowledge. The mentor and grader is very professional and serious about the students' questions and confusions. The courseware and the Mathematica are also helpful with my exploring deep in what I learnt in the class." ~ Anonymous
"I liked having a mentor that I could go over questions with when I was struggling with concepts. Having a person talk through problems was helpful. I think having video lectures available would also be helpful because it provides a way for audio-based learners to get the most out of the course." ~ Anonymous
"What a blessing NetMath was. Modern/Abstract algebra was not being offered at my institution so Illinois made it possible to get a more robust degree component. I enjoyed the self pacing feature; it teaches time management while allowing the student to determine his/her own priorities on the daily. My mentor was extremely willing to aid, talk, and email and the exam process was smooth, I do think a forum with a little more activity would’ve been neat." ~ Miguel V.
“I liked that we were assigned a mentor to help out with navigating the course and course material, I like the application of the concepts we learned to other aspects of life (that helped me learn a lot)." ~ Jaime G.
"I have to say that I have really enjoyed this course so far. I like the self-paced aspects, and I think someone did a great job writing these lessons. I was pretty amazed by how well you learn the material in this method.” ~ Barry P.
"I chose NetMath because I was looking for a self-paced Linear Algebra course that would grant transferable credits upon completion. The first few weeks of the course were honestly pretty daunting in terms of getting used to Mathematica and trying to understand the course material. However, after learning the syntax and completing the assignments for the first two lessons, things get much clearer from thereon and you'll start to appreciate the way the lessons are presented. This is especially true because most of the concepts you'll learn will be supplemented with a lot of visualizations which I thought was the single best thing about this course. I would say the difficulty of this course is fair, provided you keep up with the material and do all the assignments. Overall, I'd say I enjoyed this course and I'd recommend it to other students who are looking for a reasonably challenging course that would allow them to work on their own pace." ~ Abdul N.
"I needed an upper division linear algebra course like Math 416 to finish my degree. Even when a school offers this course, it is usually in the middle of the day like 10am-2pm. I am a grown man and have to work. When can I get away 3 days a week for 16 weeks during those hours and keep a job that supports my family? And my school was so adamant that I take a course that was very very close to their description. So I have spent 5 years waiting for my department chair to either retire or die so maybe the replacement would be up with the times and reasonable about meeting the requirement remotely. Ive had my eye on taking Math 415 for years to hopefully get this requirement completed. Well, my department got a new chair, and Math 416 came up on NetMath and it is literally the difference between having a degree and being seen as reasonably qualified versus not having it and being seen as totally useless, unqualified and fodder for various warehouses and other crappy jobs because I hadn't completed one freaking class. So, now I have completed it. And guess what, I got in touch with one of my former professors and he remembered my and my work and helped me apply to graduate school and now I have full funding and a co-op from a major tech company to pursue a phd in statistics. All thanks to Netmath. No joke, no shit, finishing up that single class and having it available in this format made it possible not only to keep my day job and support my family, but move forward in a major fashion. Thanks. I appreciate it." ~ Anonymous
“The course is great. I'm really happy that circumstances forced me to take an Internet-based math class because it gave me a chance to see what's possible. I thought the materials were ingeniously designed. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to write materials that anticipate the way students think and lead them in the correct direction.” ~ James C.
“I would just like to say that I think that the program is great. The classes offer a very flexible and user-friendly learning environment which allows students to learn when they want to and how they want to.” ~ Rob G.
“I truly enjoy the NetMath program and have found the two previous classes I took - (Math) 220 & 231 - to be top notch.” ~ Benjamin B.
“NetMath was the most fun and interesting mathematics course I have ever experienced in my life. If people were to ask me if they should take a course like this, I would tell them to jump at the opportunity, because it will probably turn a negative attitude about math into a good one, and a positive attitude about math into an even better one. Just think: I even got a head start on my college education and it was fun!!!” ~ Mindy G.
“My attitude about math has turned around in a way I could never have imagined. I always felt a sense of deep dread even hearing the word mathematics. I now actively pursue it.” ~ Ryan B.
“I loved the course. I've worked in e-learning systems for seven years so it was great to see a format so well adapted to the online medium. The materials and Mathematica really let you explore so you can get an intuitive feel for the concepts. Having a mentor beside you and being able to schedule tests to advance at your own rate made it an ideal choice for refreshing my math.” ~ Daniel P.
“I am definitely the kind of student who did not thrive in the typical lecture environment. This class was administered well, and the course material is fun and engaging. I would recommend it to anyone!” ~ Trafton E.
“After returning back to school 20 years later, this is the third math course I've taken and by far the best.” ~ Ron H.
“Thank you for offering this program. For me, having to work full time, it is the only way I can learn math from a high-quality University.” ~ Edwin F.
“I'd especially like to acknowledge the great support I got from my mentor. He was always responsive to my questions and helped me stay on track. His encouragement was very much appreciated. It kept me motivated to do my best. He was a key element in making the course effective and enjoyable.” ~ Tom M.
“I feel they provided exceptional help and support in the course, and I am very pleased to have worked with them. They gave immediate responses to questions and issues and were very understanding when my work commitments conflicted with the class schedule.” ~ Tim W
“I have used many things that I learned in your class. I am helping a student in Calculus right now and was just telling her how beneficial your class was. Thank you for everything!” ~ M.S.
